Dear Parents and
Guardian
Welcome to
Division 5! We are so excited to have your child in our class and are looking
forward to a very exciting year. We have a great bunch of Grade 3 and 4
students…14 Grade 3’s and 10 Grade 4’s. Your
child will have two teachers…Mrs. Robson, who teaches Monday through Thursday
and Mrs. Barker teaches each Friday.
Mrs. Barker (Fridays only) |
Gym days are Tuesdays and Thursdays
Computer day is on Friday
Library day is on Wednesday
We would greatly
appreciate it if your child could bring a small plastic pencil box that will
fit easily inside their desks (this can be purchased at any dollar store). Also
with cold season just around the corner, we would like each student to bring
one box of Kleenex to school.
Agendas are a
very important part of our day. Each day your child will be writing in any
homework that they have, notices of field trips, special happenings etc. If you need to let us know of any
appointments, upcoming absences or any other concerns, please have write us a
quick note in the agenda and we will get in touch with you as quickly as
possible. Please read and initial it each night. It is your child’s
responsibility to make sure they return their agenda to school EVERY morning. Please
do not forget to check the front pocket of the agenda for any notices.
Nightly reading
is a very important part of your child’s “homework”. They will strongly benefit
from both reading silently to themselves and reading out loud to an adult,
which will help them to work on their oral language abilities. Talking to your children
about what they have read will help with their understanding of the story. You
should be reading at least 20 minutes every night!
Please DO NOT give
your child permission to bring in any toys, fancy pencils, erasers etc.
Unfortunately these items tend to go missing and cause distraction in class.
You children will
be working very hard at school and need to be alert and ready to learn. It is
really important that they arrive on time so that they are able to get organized.
The first bell rings at 8:30 and your child will need to be seated in their
desks and ready to learn by 8:40.
At this age, your
child should be going to bed early enough so that they can have a good night
sleep and get up in plenty of time to eat breakfast before school. A nutritious
recess snack and lunch help to keep your children energized for the whole day. Water, milk or juice is acceptable, but please
do not bring pop to school. All water bottles should be labelled with your child’s
name.
Here’s to a
great year!!
Sincerely, Mrs. K Robson Mrs. J. Barker
